  • On May 18th, Xiao Gang, former chairman of the China Securities Regulatory Commission, stated at the 2025 Tsinghua Wudaokou Global Financial Forum that China’s digital economy continued to maintain a good development trend in the first quarter of this year. The core industries of the digital economy have shown good growth momentum, with a growth rate of over 10% (double-digit growth). From the perspective of regional distribution and total number of enterprises, the leading trend is evident in the eastern region. In the first quarter of this year, A-share listed companies in the core industry of digital economy in the eastern region contributed more than 90% of the country’s revenue and net profit. Xiao Gang analyzed that this year in the field of digital finance, most financial institutions have begun to integrate big models such as DeepSeek. After DeepSeek promoted AI equality, many small and medium-sized financial institutions have the conditions and capabilities to apply AI big models, which has brought great changes to the entire financial industry. By continuously applying various AI models represented by DeepSeek, financial institutions have further innovated the digital finance development ecosystem, improving financial efficiency and customer experience. Regarding the future development of digital economy and digital finance, Xiao Gang suggests further promoting the deep integration of digital economy and real economy. Firstly, we need to further improve the ecosystem of the digital economy industry, cultivate a cooperative ecosystem of “technology industry finance” in a virtuous cycle, and further eliminate some constraints on digital economy consumption; Secondly, we need to accelerate the construction of a governance loop for generative AI financial applications, refine the implementation details of financial scenarios, and focus on risk management of AI technology abuse; The third is to build a high-quality financial data market, explore and improve a series of theoretical basis and practical paths such as data element ownership, pricing, valuation, transaction circulation, and entry into the balance sheet.

The transportation ministers of the five Central Asian countries highly appreciate China’s efforts in deepening China Central Asia connectivity and positively evaluate the practical cooperation achievements between China and Central Asian countries in the field of transportation. • On May 18th, Galaxy Securities Research Report stated that in the short term, the announcement of the Joint Statement of the China US Geneva Economic and Trade Talks released a positive signal of easing China US economic and trade relations, which will help to cool down market risk aversion. At the same time, the potential pressure of trade frictions on domestic economic growth has eased, and corporate profit expectations are expected to be revised upwards. But this round of agreement is a milestone achievement in the negotiations between China and the United States, and there will be fluctuations and uncertainties in the direction of subsequent tariff policies. In the long run, the trend of the A-share market will still reflect the connotation of “me as the mainstay” and is expected to show stronger resilience. In terms of configuration, it is recommended to focus on three major directions: firstly, the increasing uncertainty of the external environment, the relatively strong performance certainty, and the overall stable dividend returns of the dividend sector have defensive attributes. Secondly, the logic of the “technology narrative” in the A-share market is clear, and it is recommended to focus on the catalytic opportunities of subsequent industry trends. Thirdly, pay attention to the allocation opportunities in the large consumer sector, implement intensive policies to support service consumption, expand the scope and improve the quality of the “two new” policies, and drive market recovery.

  • On May 18th, the 2025 Tsinghua Wudaokou Global Financial Forum was held in Shenzhen from May 17th to 18th. Ding Zhijie, Director of the Financial Research Institute of the People’s Bank of China, released the China Financial Policy Report 2025 on behalf of the research group. The report suggests that China’s financial system needs to accelerate its reform pace and continue to enhance its resilience under internal and external pressures. The current financial reform in China is at a new important juncture. The external situation is severe and complex, global economic fluctuations are intensifying, the international trade order is being restructured, and geopolitical risks are beginning to rise. In addition, the fields of financial security and regulation are also facing challenges. The technological revolution is accelerating the reshaping of the financial competition landscape, including the widespread application of AI (artificial intelligence) technology in the financial sector, which has led the current global financial system into a cycle of technological updates and iterations. Regarding the reform of the financial system, the report proposes five key points for financial reform: optimizing the allocation of financial resources, and most importantly, maintaining a stable financial environment; Accelerate the improvement of the central bank system and smooth the transmission mechanism of monetary policy; Strengthen supervision, promote the construction of regulatory bottom line mechanisms and early correction systems, and legally include all financial activities in supervision; Adhere to the essence of finance and improve the quality and efficiency of financial services; Efforts will be made to promote high-level financial opening up and accelerate the construction of a strong financial country. Phnom Penh, May 18 (Xinhua) — High end Interview | Continuously Making New Progress in Promoting the Construction of a Community of Shared Future between Cambodia and China in the New Era Around the clock – Interview with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Ma Nai

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Ma Nai recently stated in a written interview with Xinhua News Agency that in the rapidly changing international situation, Cambodia and China should work together to address the complex challenges of today’s world and promote the continuous progress of building an all-weather community of shared future between Cambodia and China in the new era.

The relationship between Cambodia and China has a long history, and the bilateral relationship can be regarded as a model. No matter how the international and regional situation changes, it is unbreakable, “said Hong Mane.” This kind of ironclad friendship is a solid foundation for building a community with a shared future between Cambodia and China

He stated that China has become Cambodia’s most important development partner, and after the implementation of the China Cambodia Free Trade Agreement and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, the economic and trade cooperation between the two countries has further accelerated. Cambodian products have been able to better enter the Chinese market, resulting in a significant increase in exports to China; The favorable trade environment created by the agreement has also enhanced Cambodia’s competitiveness, making it an internationally attractive investment destination.

Hong Manai said, “There is enormous potential for economic and trade exchanges between Cambodia and China, and there is vast room for future development.” He stated that Cambodia is committed to further strengthening its mutually beneficial partnership with China, achieving sustainable development and common prosperity between Cambodia and China. He pointed out that the initiative of jointly building the “the Belt and Road” proposed by China has provided good opportunities and paths for Cambodia’s current and future development.

“China’s initiative to jointly build the ‘the Belt and Road’ is highly consistent with Cambodia’s’ Five Corner Strategy ‘. Cambodia is one of the first countries to support the’ the Belt and Road ‘initiative, and has benefited greatly from it,” said Hong Manai.

Hung Manai especially mentioned the cooperation projects between Cambodia and China within the framework of jointly building the “the Belt and Road”, such as the Golden Harbor Expressway, Sihanoukville Port Special Economic Zone, and believed that these cooperation had contributed to Cambodia’s economic growth.

Hong Mane stated that cooperation within the framework of global development initiatives will help achieve Cambodia’s national development goals; Promoting global security initiatives through cooperation between Cambodia and China will help strengthen bilateral security cooperation; The Global Civilization Initiative is conducive to promoting sustainable development and advancing Cambodia’s modernization while protecting cultural and natural heritage.

He mentioned a series of successful law enforcement actions taken by Cambodia and China in recent times to combat online fraud. He said that these actions indicate that “strengthening cooperation between China and Cambodia will more effectively address the threat of cybercrime.

Hong Manai stated that the construction of a community with a shared future between Cambodia and China has entered a new era of high quality, high level, and high standards. In order to further enrich the practical cooperation achievements between the two sides, Cambodia and China should double their efforts and implement the purpose and goals of the “Diamond Six Borders” cooperation framework in the six major fields of politics, production capacity, agriculture, energy, security, and humanities.
