Civilian forces have always been important participants and contributors to China Africa cooperation. In recent years, guided by the concept of a China Africa community with a shared future and a genuine, friendly and sincere policy towards Africa, Chinese enterprises, medical institutions, public welfare organizations and other private forces have made outstanding contributions in helping to enhance the industrialization and agricultural modernization development level of African countries, boost economic activity, accelerate green transformation, improve medical and health management, and enhance people’s livelihood and well-being. At the same time, as China’s doors open wider and wider, many African private enterprises have also come to China to share the dividends of China’s development.

Abdullah Elfrid, Vice President of the Africa China Cooperation and Development Investment Association from Libya, is one of them. He will soon depart for Changsha and plans to register a company at the China Africa Economic and Trade Headquarters Building located in the Changsha Economic Development Zone, while also discussing matters related to the association’s settlement.

The Africa China Cooperation and Development Investment Association was co founded by African entrepreneurs in China in 2018, with the aim of connecting and promoting more business exchanges between Chinese and African enterprises.

Abdullah said that after multiple rounds of investigation, it was found that the China Africa Economic and Trade Headquarters Building gathers better policies and services, and Hunan is also a well-known highland of China Africa trade, so it came here because of its reputation. It is expected that after the enterprise settles in, it will enjoy a 3-year rent free period, as well as government support policies such as platform incentives, export credit insurance, and export loans.

In the view of Xu Xiangping, President of the Hunan China Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation Promotion Research Association, China Africa cooperation has brought a broad stage for mutual benefit and cooperation among private enterprises in China and Africa.

With the active participation of private enterprises, China Africa economic and trade cooperation has expanded from traditional industries such as construction, mining, manufacturing, and agriculture to diversified new formats such as logistics, digital economy, clean energy, health and hygiene, green development, and finance. Enterprises have brought knowledge and technology, especially in renewable energy, agriculture, and digitalization, to Africa, effectively supporting its modernization development, “said Xu Xiangping.

To further unleash the potential for private enterprises to cooperate with Africa, China has also built a new platform for China Africa trade for private enterprises, and the China Africa Economic and Trade Headquarters Building project is one of them. The project was officially launched on June 13th, integrating functions such as office, exhibition, and communication, with a total area of over 100000 square meters. It is expected to achieve a trade volume with Africa of no less than 30 billion yuan in the next three years.

As of now, the building has attracted the attention of more than 60 non economic and trade cooperation enterprises and business association organizations, and more than 30 private enterprises have settled in, covering multiple fields such as communication and multimedia, technology research and development, engineering construction, international exchange, and trade incubation.

Changsha Xingcheng Foreign Comprehensive Service Enterprise Service Co., Ltd., responsible for liaising with Abdullah Investment Promotion, is one of the first companies to settle in the building. Currently, it has attracted six companies to settle in the building, and two foreign-funded enterprises are in talks.

In the view of General Manager Luo Qin, Hunan has already established its overseas reputation in China Africa trade. In addition, there are many relevant support policies from local governments, which give enterprises a sense of gain. In the future, we will focus on non related enterprises and plan to attract more large and foreign enterprises

Not only in the field of commerce, but also in the cultural field, more and more non-governmental forces from China and Africa are actively playing a role. On the 25th, as one of the participating enterprises in the cultural industry of China and Africa, Liu Jianhong, Chairman of Hunan Shanmao Jimi Media Co., Ltd., was invited to participate in the parallel forums of the 7th China Africa Forum and the 7th China Africa Youth Leaders Forum.

In February of this year, the “China Africa Cultural and Creative Exchange Club” hosted by Yamato Jimi and the Kenya National Federation of Industry and Commerce was established in Tianxin District, Changsha City, aiming to use the common love of young people as a carrier for cultural integration between China and Africa. At present, the club has implemented many cooperative projects in Africa. Shanmao Jimi is building a two-way tourism route between China and Africa, allowing more Chinese and African teenagers to experience the customs and traditions of Africa and appreciate the unique charm of Hunan. From the ancient city of Xi’an in China to the important land transfer station of Malaszewicz in Poland, from the central Chinese city of Wuhan to the German port city of Duisburg… After more than ten years of development, the China Europe freight train has operated over 90000 trains, and by 2024, it has already operated over 10000 trains. This “iron and steel caravan” has an important impact on transportation and logistics in Eurasia, promoted economic and trade development along the line, and injected more impetus into the joint construction of the “the Belt and Road” by all countries.

Connecting East West Channels to Boost Asia Europe Trade

As the flagship project and landmark brand of the joint construction of the “the Belt and Road”, China Europe Express has become a popular international public product since its opening. After more than a decade of development, the China Europe freight train has played an increasingly significant role in facilitating mutual exchange and benefit between China and relevant countries.

As of now, the China Europe freight train has reached 224 cities in 25 European countries and connected over 100 cities in 11 Asian countries, with a service network covering the entire Eurasian region. There are 91 planned China Europe freight train operating lines with a speed of 120 kilometers per hour in China, connecting 61 cities within the country. The China Europe freight trains transport over 50000 types of goods in 53 major categories, with a stable comprehensive heavy container rate of 100%.

By enriching the land logistics network between Asia and Europe, the China Europe freight train further enhances the advantages of multimodal trade and integration of land and sea transportation channels between Asia and Europe, continuously expanding channel capacity, providing strong collaborative driving force for freight transportation between Asia and Europe, supplemented by a large and diverse network of routes and cities, creating extensive logistics connections for trade between Asia and Europe. The trans Caspian and Black Sea China Europe trains from Yiwu, Urumqi and other places to Istanbul, Türkiye, Salerno, Italy and other places have been running in succession, and the overseas channel network pattern of “smooth and efficient, multi-directional extension, and sea land connectivity” has become increasingly mature.

With the rapid development of the China Europe freight train, the geographical boundaries and coverage of China Europe trade have further enriched, and the forms of freight transportation have become more diverse, promoting the flow of more goods between relevant countries.

The China Europe freight train has built a communication bridge between hundreds of cities in China and related countries, not only promoting the development of China Europe trade and regional economic cooperation, but also facilitating cultural, educational, and personnel exchanges between Asia and Europe. Zahariev, President of the Bulgarian National Federation of the “the Belt and Road”, said that the China Europe Train provides an important logistics channel for Asia Europe trade, and promotes trade development, economic cooperation and cultural exchanges between China and Europe and countries along the line.

Strengthening Asia Europe logistics to promote economic development along the route

The development of China Europe freight trains has brought regularity and stability to logistics along the route, providing a stable, reliable, and more flexible transportation route for trade between Asia and Europe in uncertain factors such as the Red Sea crisis.

At the same time, the China Europe freight train has cost advantages compared to air freight and time advantages compared to sea freight, providing a more convenient trade channel for the Asia Europe freight network and making the transportation and logistics industries between China and Europe and countries along the route more flexible.

At present, the advantages of the China Europe freight train are obvious, and the demand is relatively high. Although it is difficult to predict the long-term trend of ocean freight prices, overall, given the current international situation, railway transportation is expected to grow significantly, and China Europe freight train services will continue to grow and play an indispensable role.

Ria Future Logistics Company in Poland has been engaged in the China Europe freight train business for nearly ten years. The company’s general manager, Pavel Moscara, told Xinhua News Agency that since the outbreak of the Red Sea crisis, maritime transportation between China and Europe has been severely affected, and routes have had to detour around the African continent, adding about ten days of travel and increasing costs. In this situation, the China Europe freight train has to some extent stabilized China Europe trade, benefiting a large number of enterprises.

The China Europe freight train has accelerated the cross-border flow of production resources, promoted economic prosperity in ports and hub areas, provided new opportunities for inland cities along the route to open up to the outside world, enabled enterprises to conduct trade along more interconnected and cost-effective transportation routes, promoted increased industrial investment and development in countries along the route, organized production and supply chains more effectively, and promoted cross-border cooperation between regions.

The business opportunities are expanding and expanding, and foreign trade is stable and strong

China and Europe are each other’s second largest trading partners. Currently, over a quarter of China Europe trade products are high-tech products, and trade in green products such as lithium batteries, new energy vehicles, and photovoltaic modules is growing rapidly. The China Europe freight train not only provides business opportunities for related enterprises, but also benefits the people along the route, and its influence in international freight transportation is growing day by day, making continuous contributions to promoting the development of China Europe trade.

In recent years, the China Europe freight train has developed rapidly and become an important land logistics channel between China, Europe, and countries along the route. The operation of China Europe freight trains maintains a strong growth trend, with a wider variety of goods. Since 2023, the “new three types” of electric vehicles, lithium batteries, and photovoltaic products have become new growth points for the transportation volume of China Europe freight trains.

In the process of development, the China Europe freight train has continuously increased the number of routes, improved transportation efficiency, expanded service scope, and optimized the structure of import and export commodities. This reflects that in the context of global geopolitical uncertainty, China’s foreign trade remains stable and has strong resilience. As an “iron and steel caravan” to ensure the stability and security of the global supply chain, the China EU regular train will further promote regional economic cooperation and inject more development impetus into the joint construction of the “the Belt and Road” cooperation. • Lima, July 15 (Xinhua) — The “most modern tunnel” leading to the ancient Inca civilization

Driving northwest along the mountain road from the ancient city of Cusco in Peru for about 4 and a half hours, you can reach the starting point of the Santa Maria Santa Teresa section, which is a necessary route to enter Machu Picchu via road. Along the way, the road is smooth, with snow capped mountains, river valleys, and alpaca herds forming a magnificent scenery, which makes the reporter curious why few tourists choose to drive to this world-renowned ancient Inca civilization site.

As the vehicle continued to drive south, the paved road gradually came to an end, and the scene in front of us dispelled the reporter’s previous doubts – on one side of the mountain road was a steep cliff with a vertical height difference of about 150 meters, and there were no guardrails set up at the bend; On the other side is a bare mountain, which often experiences rockfalls and landslides during the rainy season, making it very dangerous. Under such complex mountain road conditions, driving to Machu Picchu naturally discourages many tourists.

However, the first road tunnel from Peru to Machu Picchu, constructed by a Chinese company, will help promote a change in this situation. After the tunnel is opened, it will not only provide new route options for tourists to travel to Machu Picchu and promote the development of local tourism, but also facilitate the faster transportation of agricultural products and promote local economic development.

The Machu Picchu Highway Tunnel is located in the mountainous area of Cusco Province in southern Peru, leading to the Machu Picchu ruins. It was constructed by China Railway Tunnel Group Co., Ltd. and has a total length of 1987.5 meters. It is currently the largest and longest two-way single lane highway tunnel in Peru. When the reporter visited the the Belt and Road project jointly built by China and Peru recently, he saw that the tunnel has been completed and the electromechanical installation work is in full swing.

The tunnel project manager Pei Zhimin told reporters that this tunnel is the only tunnel in Peru’s national highway system that is fully equipped with ventilation, lighting, monitoring, and other mechanical and electrical installations. The electromechanical installation will be completed in October this year and the control system will be debugged before the end of the year. After the tunnel is opened, it will greatly shorten the travel time and avoid high-risk sections, benefiting about 19000 local residents directly.

The town of Santa Teresa, located at the southern end of the tunnel, is a coffee and various fruit producing area, and most of the local residents are engaged in agricultural cultivation. However, due to poor road conditions, the transportation cost of agricultural products in the area has always been high, and some farmers’ mangoes cannot be transported out in time and can only rot in the ground. Coffee and citrus farmer Samuel Barrios told reporters that everyone is looking forward to the tunnel opening soon, “so that products can be transported to other places more quickly and at a lower cost.

The tunnel project not only drives economic development in its area, but also creates a large number of job opportunities for the local community. In addition to being a farmer, Barrios also serves as a mixer truck driver for the tunnel project, and his children and many friends also work on the project.

Medina told reporters that except for some professional and technical personnel recruited from other places, about 70% of the workers on the project come from nearby towns, becoming an important reserve talent for tunnel construction operations. There are not many people in Peru with experience in tunnel construction. During the construction process, local workers gradually mastered tunnel construction and mechanical control techniques. Pei Zhimin said that during the construction process, China Railway Tunnel Bureau focused on providing skill training for local workers and actively engaged in technical exchanges with project owners. We hope to promote local technological innovation through China’s professional experience in tunnel construction

Mexico City, July 15 (Xinhua) — After ten years of traveling together, China and Latin America inject “southern power” into world development

China and Latin America are working hand in hand to always be a driving force in the construction of global governance. In the face of a turbulent and intertwined world, Latin American and Caribbean countries pursue independent development, advocate for maintaining peace, fairness, justice, and win-win cooperation, oppose factional confrontation, decoupling, and hegemonic bullying, and contribute to promoting an equal and orderly world multipolarity and inclusive economic globalization. China and Latin America adhere to true multilateralism, strengthen dialogue on international and regional affairs of common concern, maintain good communication and cooperation on major global issues, and voice the voice of China and Latin America in promoting the construction of a new type of international relations characterized by mutual respect, fairness, justice, and win-win cooperation, as well as a more just and reasonable global governance system. On international hot topics, Latin American countries, together with China, firmly advocate for maintaining world peace and stability. In May of this year, China and Brazil jointly issued the “Consensus on Political Resolution of the Ukrainian Crisis”, emphasizing that dialogue and negotiation are the only way to resolve the crisis, and calling on all parties to work together to promote the easing and cooling of the situation, representing the international community’s universal concern and sincere willingness to promote political resolution of the Ukrainian crisis.

China and Latin America walk hand in hand, always serving as a driving force for cooperative development. Over the past 10 years, China and Latin America have taken the high-quality joint construction of the “the Belt and Road” as the practice platform, adhered to joint discussion, joint construction and sharing, and worked together for common development. At present, China has signed a memorandum of understanding with 22 Latin American and Caribbean countries to jointly build the “the Belt and Road”. According to incomplete statistics, as of September 2023, China has implemented more than 200 infrastructure projects in Latin America, undertaking thousands of kilometers of roads, railways, and light rail, more than 100 schools, hospitals, and sports venues, nearly 100 bridges and tunnels, dozens of airports and ports, and providing nearly one million job opportunities for the local area. The Phoenix Industrial Park, jointly built by China and Trinidad and Tobago, officially opened in January this year and is currently the most modern industrial park in Trinidad and Tobago and even the Caribbean region. The Qiankai Port project, undertaken by Chinese enterprises in Peru, is also under active construction and will become a new hub port and Pacific gateway port in Latin America after completion. China is still the second largest trading partner in Latin America and has signed free trade agreements with five Latin American countries. From infrastructure construction, to import and export trade, to emerging fields such as digital economy, clean energy, and space exploration, China and Latin America are accelerating the upgrading of cooperation towards higher added value and more advanced technological content.

China and Latin America walk hand in hand, always being a positive force for mutual learning of civilizations. Both China and Latin America have profound ancient civilizations, which progress together through mutual learning and learning, becoming an important driving force for promoting human civilization progress and world peace and development. The opening of the longest direct international passenger route between Shenzhen and Mexico City, as well as the opening of Beijing Madrid Sao Paulo, Beijing Madrid Havana, and Beijing Tijuana Mexico City routes, has built a new bridge for cross hemisphere exchanges between China and Latin America, making it easier to deepen mutual understanding through personal experiences such as tourism, study abroad, and work. At the Copan site in Honduras, China Hong joint archaeologists have been collaborating since 2015 to explore the “time and space tunnel” leading to the Mayan civilization. As of April this year, there are 47 Confucius Institutes and 6 Confucius Classrooms in Latin America. Brand activities such as the “China Latin America Cultural Exchange Year,” “China Latin America Civilization Dialogue Forum,” “Latin American Cultural Festival,” and “Latin American Film Exhibition” are rich and colorful, and cultural content such as film and television, food, music, and dance from both sides are increasingly approaching each other’s people, constantly deepening mutual understanding.

Only by benefiting the world can we benefit our own country. At present, China is making concerted efforts to promote Chinese path to modernization. At the same time, Latin American and Caribbean countries are also working hard to achieve unity and self-improvement. Both sides will strengthen cooperation on the existing solid foundation, jointly promote the construction of a community with a shared future between China and Latin America, and continuously contribute new strength to the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind. Xi’an Chanba International Port, the assembly center of China Europe Railway Express (Xi’an). On the freight yard, piles of containers are waiting to be loaded; Not far away, the China Europe freight train sailed towards the distance with the sound of the whistle. Every 100 minutes, a train departs from this land port.

The China Europe Express (Xi’an), which was launched in November 2013, is the first China Europe Express in China since the “the Belt and Road” initiative was put forward.

In just 10 years, from the initial annual operation volume of 46 trains to exceeding 5300 trains by 2023, core indicators such as train operation volume, freight volume, and heavy container rate have taken the lead nationwide. The freight stations that operate trains have also grown from “fourth class small stations” to international logistics hub centers.

According to statistics from China Railway Group, from January to June this year, the China Europe freight train (Xi’an) operated 2372 trains, a year-on-year increase of 13.1%; Sending 250000 TEUs, a year-on-year increase of 10.4%.

The reporter’s interview found that behind the sustained year-on-year growth is the vitality continuously released by this Asia Europe “golden channel”, which has also put China’s inland areas at the forefront of reform and opening up.

The relevant person in charge of Xi’an Customs said that with the steady progress of the construction of the China Europe freight train (Xi’an) assembly center, the traction and driving effect of the China Europe freight train on Shaanxi’s westward opening up has become increasingly evident. According to statistics from the customs department, in 2023, Shaanxi, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu ranked among the top three in terms of export value for the China Europe freight train, while Shaanxi, Liaoning, and Fujian ranked among the top three in terms of import value.

In the past few years, the top few provinces were all coastal provinces in the east, with Shaanxi only ranking in seventh or eighth place, “said Cui Ying, Director of the Statistical Analysis Department of Xi’an Customs. In recent years, the integration of China Europe freight trains (Xi’an) with local industries and enterprises in Shaanxi has become increasingly high, and the dividends released have significantly enhanced the driving effect on the local open economy. A large number of local enterprises, represented by BYD and Longi Leye, have achieved remarkable results in exporting the “New Three Samples” through the China Europe freight train (Xi’an), fully demonstrating the market’s recognition of the train.

Not only local enterprises, but more and more Chinese made cars, shoes, hats, wireless routers and other products from the eastern and central regions also choose to gather in Xi’an and then take the train for export.

During on-site interviews, several executives from out of town enterprises said that the high frequency of operation, stable transportation time, and increasingly convenient customs clearance and high comprehensive efficiency are the main reasons why they chose to gather and export from Xi’an.

Yuan Xiaojun, General Manager of Xi’an Free Trade Port Construction and Operation Co., Ltd., said that with the launch and operation of the China Europe Railway Express (Xi’an) cloud cabin system, data connectivity with domestic customs and railways can be achieved, and intelligent customs declaration and container recycling transportation can be adopted. The operational efficiency of the train can be improved by more than one-third, and the comprehensive cost can be reduced by more than 15%.

With the continuous release of foreign trade potential by galloping trains, this “golden channel” has not only become a strong pivot for Shaanxi’s opening up to the outside world, but is also accelerating the expansion of Shaanxi’s development space to the world. Statistics show that from January to May this year, the total import and export trade value of Shaanxi Province reached 190.83 billion yuan, an increase of 11.5% compared to the same period last year.

The benefits of the “assembly” of the China Europe freight train continue to show, and many countries along the route, especially landlocked countries in Central Asia, have begun to actively connect and cooperate, promoting the China Europe freight train (Xi’an) to accelerate its move towards a new stage of “hub to hub”.

In February of this year, the Xi’an Port in Kazakhstan, jointly built by China and Kazakhstan, was officially put into operation, serving as Kazakhstan’s commercial and logistics hub in China. With the operation of the terminal, the daily work of Ozas Alibilov, Deputy General Manager of Harbin Railway Express Co., Ltd. China Branch, has become even busier.

With this dock, our goods from Kazakhstan can gather in Xi’an and further take trains south to Guangxi, entering Southeast Asian countries such as Vietnam and Thailand. For us, it has added another economic and trade ‘artery’, “said Ozas Alibilov.

Seeing the potential and opportunities for development, Ozas Abelov decided to settle in Xi’an in September last year, and his three children also studied here. We believe that the prospects for enterprises will be better along this’ artery ‘of the expansion of the China Europe freight train, “he said.

At present, the China Europe Railway Express (Xi’an) has normalized the operation of 17 international trunk lines, covering the entire Eurasian continent, and the number of “+Western Europe” assembly lines has reached 22.

China’s support is reflected in practical actions, bringing good news for the construction of the Trans Caspian International Transport Corridor.

Abudikrimov stated that currently, the annual cargo throughput of the Trans Caspian International Transport Corridor is about 6 million tons. Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Türkiye signed a development road map last year, which plans to more than double the annual throughput of the road by 2027. The Astana Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization has added momentum to the development of this route, and the Trans Caspian International Transport Corridor will continue to play a role as a fast, safe, and sustainable transportation channel.
