On March 1st, local time, Slovak Prime Minister Fizo reiterated on social media his refusal to provide military and financial support to Ukraine. Fizo stated that Slovakia “will not support Ukraine in continuing the conflict economically or militarily” and that European countries should enhance their own defense capabilities. Fizo also criticized the strategy of “using strength to achieve peace”, believing that it was unrealistic and just an excuse to “continue the conflict”. He believes that “Ukraine will never be strong enough to negotiate with the other side with military strength.” In addition, Fizo stated that Slovakia will push for an immediate ceasefire and “reach a final peace agreement” at the EU summit on March 6th. Fizo warned that if the EU summit does not consider viewpoints other than ‘continuing the conflict’, negotiations may be deadlocked and unable to reach a consensus on the Ukraine issue. He also hopes that Ukraine will reopen the Russian gas pipeline and emphasizes once again that if Russian gas supply cannot be restored, Europe cannot guarantee its competitiveness. (CCTV News)
