Large scale power outages occur in multiple parts of Chile, causing public facilities to malfunction

On February 26th, large-scale power outages occurred in several regions of northern, central, and southern Chile around 3:00 pm, causing public facilities such as subways and hospitals to be unable to operate normally. The Chilean capital Santiago Metro announced on its social media account that train services will be suspended due to a large-scale power outage in the capital and other parts of the country. It is reported that passengers are being evacuated from the station. The power outage also caused traffic lights to turn off in many parts of the country, disrupting the order of vehicle and pedestrian traffic, and leaving hospitals to rely on generators for operation. Chilean Interior Minister Carolina Toha called on State Grid to immediately hold a meeting on social media and stated that the Ministry of Interior will take measures to respond to the emergency situation and strive to restore power services. As of now, the cause of the power outage has not been determined.
