The proposal to hold presidential elections in Ukraine after receiving peace guarantees has not been passed by the parliament

On February 25th, according to the Ukrainian International News Agency, the Verkhovna Rada (parliament) did not pass a bill on “supporting democracy” on the same day. The bill stipulates that once Ukraine obtains a just and lasting peace guarantee, the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada will immediately announce the holding of presidential elections. According to reports, the “Support Democracy” bill only received 218 votes in the Ukrainian parliament on the same day, lower than the minimum 226 votes required to pass the bill.
