Israel demands an emergency meeting of the Security Council on the deaths of detainees

On February 23, Israeli Permanent Representative to the United Nations Danny Danon requested an emergency meeting of the Security Council on February 22 local time to discuss the killing of Israeli detainees and their families. It is understood that the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and Greece have also made requests. The meeting is expected to be held on February 24th or 25th. Danon stated that the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) “blatantly violated the agreement” by returning unidentified bodies and humiliating them during the transfer of bodies. “We demand that the Security Council immediately convene a meeting to condemn Hamas and designate it as a terrorist organization.
