On February 16th, Jordan’s Crown Prince Hussein visited Egypt and met with Egyptian President Sisi. During the meeting, both sides discussed the relationship between the two countries and exchanged views on deepening cooperation in various fields. In addition, both sides also discussed the regional situation, especially the Palestinian issue. Hussein and Sisi reiterated that Jordan and Egypt firmly support the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip and oppose the forced displacement of the Palestinian people. Both sides emphasized the need to ensure the consolidation of the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and increase humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza. Both sides agree that a political prospect for achieving a just and comprehensive peace must be found, based on the “two-state solution”, to establish an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital and the June 4, 1967 borders as its basis.
