On February 11th, US President Trump announced on February 10th local time that if the detainees in Gaza are not released before noon on the 15th, he will cancel the previously reached ceasefire agreement. Trump also believes that Israel has the right to overturn this agreement. On February 10th local time, Abu Ubaida, spokesperson for the armed faction of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), the Kassan Brigade, stated that due to Israel’s ongoing violations of the ceasefire agreement, the exchange of detainees scheduled for February 15th will be postponed until further notice. Israeli Defense Minister Katz responded to the statement by the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) regarding the postponement of the release of Israeli detainees, stating that the statement was a “blatant violation of the ceasefire agreement”. Katz stated that the Israeli Defense Forces have been instructed to maintain the highest level of vigilance in response to any possible situation in Gaza.
