UN officials: Conflict in Goma, eastern Democratic Republic of Congo has resulted in at least 2900 deaths

On February 6th, Vivian van der Pel, Deputy Commander of the United Nations Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, stated on February 5th local time that the conflict between the Congolese government army and the anti-government armed group “M23 Movement” in Goma, the capital of North Kivu province, has resulted in at least 2900 deaths.
