Kuala Lumpur, January 23 (Xinhua) – Chen Jiaxing, acting chairman of the Malaysian think tank Regional Strategy Research Institute, recently stated in a written interview with Xinhua News Agency that China is moving forward on the track of high-quality development, relying on energy transformation and technological innovation to make important contributions to the regional and global economy. There is enormous potential and broad prospects for cooperation between Malaysia and China in green and low-carbon industries.
Chen Jiaxing has long been concerned about global agriculture and food security, climate change, and environmental protection. He believes that China’s social and economic development is rapid, and energy demand is constantly increasing. In this context, China is vigorously promoting the development of renewable energy. In the past decade, the proportion of renewable energy generation such as hydropower, wind power, and solar power in China has been continuously increasing, demonstrating a strong ability to adjust the energy structure.
Chen Jiaxing said that China is not only accelerating the promotion and application of renewable energy, but also leading the world in related technologies and equipment manufacturing. The Chinese government strongly supports the development of related industries, which has enabled Chinese enterprises to rank among the world’s top in the fields of hydropower, wind power, and photovoltaic equipment manufacturing. He said that China’s achievements in renewable energy application and technological innovation have injected key forces into global energy transformation and economic development.
“For Malaysia, there is great potential for cooperation with China in green energy, digital economy, infrastructure construction and other fields.” Chen Jiaxing pointed out that, especially with the promotion of the “the Belt and Road” initiative, Malaysia and China are expected to further deepen practical cooperation in many fields to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.
Currently, with the acceleration of regional economic integration, cooperation between ASEAN and China continues to deepen. Chen Jiaxing said that ASEAN countries are actively shifting towards a low-carbon economy, and cooperation between ASEAN and China in new energy, environmental protection technology, and green infrastructure construction will provide key impetus for this transformation. He believes that closer technology and innovation cooperation between Malaysia and China will also inject vitality into regional sustainable development.
