On February 2nd, according to TASS News Agency, regarding the decision of NATO member states to deploy warships and planes for patrol in the Baltic Sea, Vladimir Balbin, the Russian Ambassador to Denmark, stated in an interview that NATO is trying to turn the Baltic Sea into NATO’s internal sea, and Russia will take all necessary measures in accordance with international law to protect its interests. According to reports, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte earlier stated that in order to protect the underwater infrastructure of NATO member states, NATO will conduct patrol operations in the Baltic Sea, involving frigates and maritime patrol aircraft.
