On February 1st, local time, a domestic regional plane collided with a US helicopter in mid air at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, and both planes crashed into the Potomac River. On January 30th, US Defense Secretary Hagibis stated that the Black Hawk helicopter involved in the January 29th collision between a US passenger plane and a military helicopter was conducting an “annual night assessment” mission. However, according to Bloomberg on February 1st, Hagibis stated on January 31st that the Black Hawk helicopter was not conducting a “routine” mission at the time, but rather an exercise called “Government Continuity”.
