On February 1st, two sources familiar with the matter said that interim US prosecutor Ed Martin has fired approximately 30 federal prosecutors who have been handling the January 6th Capitol Hill riot case in his Washington D.C. office for the past four years. The report stated that these prosecutors had received dismissal notices on the same day. This layoff accounts for about 8% of the total number of prosecutors in the office. This decision will have an impact on the civil, appellate, high court, and violent crime departments of the office.
