On January 25th, the South Korean Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism confirmed that bird feathers and blood were found in both engines of Jeju Air Flight 7C2216, which crashed on December 29, 2024. On the 25th, the South Korean Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism also stated that the pilot of the Jeju Air plane that crashed issued the “MAYDAY” distress signal due to a bird strike during landing. Previously, the South Korean authorities have confirmed that neither of the two black boxes of the crashed Jeju Air plane recorded critical 4-minute data before the plane collided with the concrete facilities at the end of the airport runway. Analysis has pointed out that the two engines of the crashed plane lost power due to bird impact, or the reason for the black box to stop recording.
