On January 26th, local time, on January 25th, the US Senate confirmed Kristin Noam as the Secretary of Homeland Security with a vote of 59 in favor and 34 against. On November 12, 2024, US President Trump issued a statement nominating South Dakota Governor Nome as the new Secretary of Homeland Security. Earlier this week, the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee voted 13-2 to approve his nomination.
