Colombian government reopens arrest warrants for 31 anti-government armed militants

On January 22nd, the Colombian prosecutor’s office issued a resolution to restart the arrest warrants for 31 key leaders and members of the country’s main anti-government armed group, the National Liberation Organization of Colombia. Since 2022, Colombian President Petro has actively promoted the peace negotiation process with the organization and reached a ceasefire agreement, and has revoked the arrest warrants for its members. On January 17th local time, the Colombian government announced the suspension of peace talks with the organization, stating that the organization has no intention of peace. On the afternoon of January 20th local time, Colombian President Petro announced the implementation of internal turmoil and economic emergency, but the standards for measuring its scope and effectiveness were questioned.
