On January 23, Hans Grundberg, the United Nations Special Envoy for Yemen, issued a statement on January 22 local time regarding the release of the crew of the “Galactic Leader”, stating that this progress is an important step in the right direction. Glendberg said in a statement that the release of the crew of the ‘Galactic Leader’ is uplifting, putting an end to over a year of arbitrary detention and separation of the crew and their families. He called on the Houthi armed forces to continue taking active actions, including stopping all maritime attacks, to pave the way for improving the mediation environment and restarting the political process in Yemen. He emphasized that these measures are of great significance in promoting the easing of the situation in Yemen and the restoration of the political process, and millions of Yemeni people are eagerly anticipating them. In addition, Glendberg expressed deep gratitude to Oman for its unremitting efforts to promote the release of crew members, and praised Oman for its firm support in advocating for the release of arbitrarily detained persons by the United Nations, international organizations, and diplomatic institutions.
