The armed conflict between Colombian anti-government armed groups has resulted in 80 deaths

On January 20th, starting from January 16th local time, the main anti-government armed group in Colombia, the National Liberation Organization of Colombia, and the branch organization of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, have engaged in fierce armed clashes in the Cartantonbo area of the North Santander Province, which borders Venezuela in the north of the country. As of the morning of January 19th local time, the clashes have caused at least 80 deaths, 20 injuries, 20 kidnappings, and forced relocation of over 5000 residents. The conflict is concentrated in the cities of El Tala, Teolama, Tib, and Cambension in the Katatongbo region. Since the outbreak of the conflict, the tension in the region has continued to escalate, with local residents facing risks such as murder, forced displacement, kidnapping, imprisonment, and harassment.
