On January 17th, the armed faction of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), the Kassan Brigade, issued a warning on the 16th local time, stating that although Israel and Hamas have reached an agreement on a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, Israel continues to carry out airstrikes and shelling on the Gaza Strip, which will endanger Israeli detainees who are about to be released under the new agreement. The Kassan Brigade stated that any aggression and shelling by Israel at this stage could turn the freedom of detainees into a tragedy.
