Wang Yi: A benchmark for building a community with a shared future for China and Africa in the new era

On January 7, 2025 local time, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, was interviewed by reporters in Brazzaville to introduce his visit to Congo (Brazzaville).

Wang Yi stated that China and Congo have reached a broad consensus on strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries and deepening cooperation between China and Africa. Both sides agreed to continue strengthening the strong friendship between China and Congo. Firmly stand together on issues related to the other party’s sovereignty, security, development, and other core interests. Through the exchange of governance experience and the pursuit of development paths that are in line with our respective national conditions, we will work together towards modernization.

Both sides agreed to continue to be at the forefront of China Africa friendship. According to the important consensus reached by President Xi Jinping and President Sassou, we will accelerate the construction of a high-level China Congo community with a shared future, and set a benchmark for the all-weather China Africa community with a shared future in the new era.

Both sides agreed to continue polishing the golden signboard of the Forum on China Africa Cooperation. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the forum. As co chairs of the forum, both sides should take the ten major partnership actions as the core, jointly implement the outcomes of the Beijing Summit, and jointly plan the “timetable” and “roadmap” for the development of the forum in the next three years.

Both sides agreed to continue defending international fairness and justice. China appreciates the unique role played by Congo in international affairs and is willing to closely cooperate with Congo to help Africa achieve peace and stability, support Africa in changing climate injustice, advocate for an equal and orderly world multipolarization, inclusive economic globalization, and jointly promote the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind.
