On December 29th, the South Korean government announced that the 7-day period from now until 24:00 on January 4th will be a national mourning period. Today, a South Korean passenger plane carrying 181 people collided and caught fire during landing. According to the South Korean Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, the accident was caused by the plane colliding with a flock of birds. The Jeollanam do Fire Department in South Korea stated that all personnel on board the crashed plane were killed except for two survivors.
