On December 26th, Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov stated on the 25th local time that Russia has never had any illusions about the prospect of an easy resolution to the Ukrainian crisis. The Ukrainian crisis can only be resolved when all parties concerned reach a consensus on stable security and stability in Europe, taking into account the legitimate interests of Russia and other countries. Lavrov also stated that what the West and Ukraine are currently discussing is only a “ceasefire” in Ukraine, allowing the Ukrainian government to regain power with the help of the West. Russia is not satisfied with this. Russia needs a legally binding agreement. A legally binding agreement should aim to address the root causes of the conflict in Ukraine, including common European security and NATO expansion.
