Germany approves over 160 million euros worth of weapons supply to Israel in 2024

On December 25th, according to the German magazine Der Spiegel on the 23rd, the German government approved the supply of over 160 million euros of weapons to Israel in 2024. In recent weeks alone, the German government has approved the export of weapons worth over 30 million euros to Israel. According to reports, although Germany has repeatedly refused Israel’s requests for weapons since the outbreak of the current Israeli Palestinian conflict, due to Germany’s responsibility for the production of parts for Israel’s “Merkava” main battle tank and other weapons and equipment, Germany still provided tank and other tank spare parts totaling over 48 million euros, as well as various types of ammunition totaling about 37 million euros. According to reports, although several German officials previously denied providing Israel with “weapons for military operations in the Gaza Strip,” in early October, German Chancellor Scholz admitted to providing weapons to Israel and stated that he would continue to maintain the supply.
