On December 23rd, Israeli National Unity Party leader Benny Gantz issued a statement accusing Prime Minister Netanyahu of disrupting negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) regarding a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the exchange of detainees. Gantz stated that Netanyahu has no right to prevent detainees from returning home for political reasons. He said that reaching an agreement between Israel and Hamas is the right choice that is in line with humanitarian and Israeli national security. He also stated that Netanyahu’s obstruction of the agreement was to avoid jeopardizing the stability of his right-wing ruling coalition. (CCTV News)
