On December 23rd, the Israel Defense Forces announced on the 22nd local time that they have deployed engineering troops and other units to carry out clearance operations in more than 40 communities in northern Israel, in order to identify and remove military equipment, unexploded ordnance, and other items left behind in areas related to the previous Israel Lebanon conflict, in preparation for the return of residents in northern Israel. Since the conflict between Hezbollah and Israel in October last year, Israel has evacuated approximately 60000 residents from the northern part of the country. (CCTV News)
