Kinshasa, December 19 (Xinhua) — The first Chinese agricultural technology cooperation training course for the Democratic Republic of Congo was held on the 19th in the capital city of Kinshasa.
The ceremony was held at the Drought Crop Demonstration and Agricultural Technology Demonstration Center for Aid to the Democratic Republic of Congo located in the suburbs of Kinshasa. Minister of State and Minister of Agriculture and Food Security of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mutombo, and Chinese Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Congo, Zhao Bin, attended the ceremony.
In his speech, Mutongbo said that this training course will empower technology to help the Democratic Republic of Congo fully utilize its unique agricultural resources, release agricultural production capacity, and fill the “basket of vegetables” of the Congolese people, promoting the country’s economic development and poverty reduction.
Zhao Bin said that there is enormous potential for agricultural development in the Democratic Republic of Congo. During the Beijing summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation of the Forum on China Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) this year, the two heads of state identified agricultural cooperation as one of the priority areas of cooperation. We believe that both China and Congo will strive to promote the existing cooperation achievements throughout the country and effectively assist Congo in strengthening food security.
It is reported that this training course is jointly organized by China and Congo, lasting for one month, and will provide theoretical and practical training on crop planting techniques for more than 40 local students.
