Vientiane, May 21 (Xinhua) – The China Railway Construction Group’s aid project for the Laos Institute of Posts and Telecommunications Technology was completed and handed over on the 20th in the capital of Laos, Vientiane. Vice Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Laos, Shah Lunsai, Charg é d’affaires ad interim of the Chinese Embassy in Laos, Wang Chang, and Minister of Technology and Communications of Laos, Bo Wankan, attended the ceremony.
Wang Chang delivered a speech at the ceremony, stating that the Lao Institute of Posts and Telecommunications Technology is one of the “Ten Schools” of China’s aid to Laos, and is a microcosm of the friendly cooperation and joint promotion of modernization between China and Laos. We look forward to the exchange and cooperation between China and Laos in the field of information and communication technology, which will help Laos build a new system for talent cultivation in this field and create favorable conditions for future modernization development.
Povankan stated that the Lao government attaches great importance to the digital transformation of socio-economic development, and establishing an information and communication technology training system is crucial for talent cultivation. The project reflects the cooperation achievements of Laos and China in jointly building the “the Belt and Road” and “Digital Silk Road”, and will bring tangible benefits to Laos.
It is reported that the total construction area of the Laos Postal and Telecommunications Technology Institute project is about 5500 square meters, including one teaching building and one equipment room. It started construction in April 2022 and completed the completion acceptance in February 2024. This project also includes training for information and communication technology instructors and vocational certification courses for Lao Fang teachers.
