On March 18th, the Peruvian government issued a decree declaring a 30 day state of emergency in the Lima metropolitan area and Callao province starting from March 18th. During this period, the national police will maintain internal order with the support of the armed forces to ensure social stability. The government also emphasized that despite entering a state of emergency, this measure does not involve a curfew, and the public’s free travel at any time of the day will not be restricted.
