Xinhua News Agency, Kuwait City, March 3 (Reporter Yin Jiong) – China Energy Engineering Gezhouba Group officially signed a contract with the Kuwait Housing and Welfare Authority on March 3 for two infrastructure projects in the South Saad Abdullah New City, with a total value of 172 million Kuwaiti dinars (approximately 557 million US dollars).
Officials and business representatives from Kuwait attended the signing ceremony held in the capital city of Kuwait on that day.
The contract signed this time includes the construction of infrastructure such as roads, pipelines, lighting, irrigation systems, etc. within the new city community block. Liu Huailiang, Chairman of China Gezhouba Group International Engineering Co., Ltd., stated at the signing ceremony that the signing of the Abdullah New City project with the Kuwait Housing and Welfare Authority is a concrete practice to deepen China Kuwait economic and trade cooperation and support Kuwait’s “2035 National Vision”.

Kuwait’s Minister of State for Municipal and Housing Affairs, Masari, stated that the signing of this contract is “very important”. He also expressed confidence in Chinese companies.
Chinese Ambassador to Kuwait Zhang Jianwei stated that the completion of the Abdullah New City project will help improve the living conditions of the Kuwaiti people. China encourages Chinese enterprises to strengthen cooperation with Kuwait in various fields, especially in the housing sector.
South Saad Abdullah New City is located approximately 25 kilometers southwest of Kuwait City, covering an area of approximately 64 square kilometers. It is one of the landmark projects in Kuwait’s “2035 National Vision” plan, including the construction of more than 20000 housing units and supporting infrastructure facilities, divided into four project sections. In October 2023, China Energy Engineering Gezhouba Group signed a general contract with Kuwait Housing and Welfare Authority for the first section of the new city project.
