Director Zheng Zhajie of the National Development and Reform Commission meets with Chief Minister Costa of the Brazilian Presidential Office

On April 27th, Zheng Zhajie, Director of the National Development and Reform Commission, met with the delegation led by Costa, Chief Minister of the Brazilian Presidential Office, who was visiting China. Both sides had in-depth exchanges on implementing the consensus reached at the China Pakistan summit and further promoting the deep and practical integration of China Pakistan development strategies. Director Zheng Zhajie said that China attaches great importance to the joint construction of the “the Belt and Road” initiative with Pakistan’s “New Industrial Plan” and other development strategies. China and Pakistan have strong economic complementarity, a good foundation for cooperation, and a very broad prospect. Since the signing of the development strategy docking cooperation plan between China and Pakistan at the end of last year, the two sides have made a series of positive progress in cooperation. The National Development and Reform Commission is willing to continue to promote the two sides to deepen cooperation in relevant fields, expand cooperation space, improve the level of mutually beneficial and win-win cooperation, and benefit the two countries and their people. Director Zheng Zhajie introduced the development trend of the Chinese economy to Costa and his delegation, and stated that in the first quarter of this year, the Chinese economy started steadily and had a good start, with multiple economic indicators accelerating their growth rates and the trend of economic recovery continuing to consolidate. China has the ability and confidence to achieve this year’s economic development goals, solidly promote high-quality development, and constantly take new steps in Chinese path to modernization. China welcomes the strengthening of cooperation between Pakistan and China, and the sharing of development opportunities and dividends. Director Zheng Zhajie stated that in the current complex and severe international situation, China and Pakistan, as developing countries, important emerging economies, and important members of the global South, should continue to strengthen communication and coordination, resolutely oppose unilateralism and protectionism from the perspective of the common interests of the two countries and the international community, firmly maintain the stability of the multilateral trading system and global industrial and supply chains, maintain an open and cooperative international environment, and promote the development of economic globalization towards the correct direction of inclusiveness.
