My Consulate General in Abbas: We will continue to monitor the progress of the port explosion incident and make every effort to ensure the safety of Chinese personnel

On April 27th, at around noon local time on April 26th, a violent explosion occurred at Shahid Rajai Port, located about 35 kilometers west of Abbas Port in Iran. The explosion generated a powerful shock wave, which was clearly felt in the city of Abbas. After the accident, local departments responded quickly. Officials including the Governor of Hormuzgan Province stated that the cause of the accident is currently under investigation, and Iran will make every effort to carry out on-site disposal and rescue work. Our museum immediately activated the emergency response mechanism after the explosion, verified the injuries of Chinese citizens with relevant departments in Iran, and demanded that Iran fully guarantee the safety of Chinese personnel’s lives and property. At the same time, our museum actively contacts Chinese enterprises and compatriots in and around the port area, understands their affected situation, guides Chinese personnel to pay attention to safety, timely avoid danger, and continues to follow official notifications. According to our embassy’s multiple sources, as of now, a total of 3 Chinese compatriots have suffered minor abrasions in the explosion, of which 2 have been taken to the hospital and 1 has come to the consulate general for assistance. Our museum has arranged a dedicated person to comfort and console the injured compatriots, understand their needs, and provide emergency supplies such as first aid kits and drinking water. Currently, all three injured individuals have been treated and are in good health and mental condition. Considering that the number of casualties is still increasing, our museum will continue to track the progress of the incident, maintain close communication and contact with relevant parties, and make every effort to ensure the safety of Chinese personnel.
