On April 18th, the 15th BRICS Agriculture Ministers’ Meeting was held in Brasilia on April 17th local time, with the theme of “Promoting Inclusive and Sustainable Development in Agriculture through Cooperation, Innovation, and Fair Trade”. Zhang Zhili, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, led a delegation to attend and give a keynote speech. Zhang Zhili pointed out that under the current situation, BRICS countries should jointly address the multiple challenges faced by the sustained and healthy development of global agriculture and trade with high-quality development and high-level cooperation. Zhang Zhili proposed three initiatives: firstly, focusing on the fields of food security and poverty reduction, leveraging complementary advantages, deepening practical cooperation in scientific and technological innovation, digital agriculture, and other areas; Secondly, strengthen multilateral collaboration and safeguard common development interests; Thirdly, we must adhere to openness and inclusiveness, firmly uphold the multilateral trading system based on WTO rules, and build a more equitable international trade order and environment for agriculture. The meeting adopted the Declaration of the 15th BRICS Agriculture Ministers’ Meeting and the Outcome Document of the Land Restoration Partnership. During his visit to Brazil, Zhang Zhili attended a symposium with the Brazilian National Agricultural Association and agricultural product import and export enterprises, and conducted research on agricultural technology and seed industry enterprises.
