On April 13th, in response to US President Trump’s recent threat to impose tariffs on drugs, the chairman of leading Indian pharmaceutical company Walkhardt stated that if the US imposes tariffs on drugs, it will ultimately harm the interests of the American people. The main reason is that drug conversion is not an easy task, as the approval process of the US Food and Drug Administration takes several years. Therefore, I believe that no matter how many tariffs are imposed, the vast majority of the costs will ultimately be passed on to the US healthcare system.
