On April 13th, local time, the United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator in Sudan, Clementine Nquita Salami, issued a statement stating that the capital city of El Fasher and two refugee camps near the city in Northern Darfur, western Sudan, were attacked on a large scale on April 11th, resulting in at least 100 civilian deaths. The statement condemns the Sudan Rapid Support Force for launching this attack, stating that the armed forces launched ground and air strikes from multiple directions on the city of El Fasher and the nearby Zamzam and Abu Shuk refugee camps, resulting in over 100 deaths, including more than 20 children and 9 humanitarian workers. The statement stated that the attack targeted civilians, humanitarian workers, and civilian infrastructure, seriously violating international humanitarian law, and demanded that the perpetrators be held accountable. The rapid support force has not yet responded to this. On April 15, 2023, armed conflict broke out between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Sudan Rapid Support Force in the capital Khartoum, and the fighting subsequently spread to other areas. The armed conflict that has lasted for nearly two years has resulted in approximately 29700 deaths and 12.9 million people being displaced in Sudan.
