On April 12, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said in an open letter on the 11th that due to the “brutal reduction” of funds, especially the substantial suspension of foreign aid by the United States government, this agency will cut 20% of its staff, that is, more than 500 staff. Tom Fletcher, the Under Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator of the United Nations, wrote in a letter to staff that this organization is “facing the most difficult situation in history”. At present, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs has about 2600 staff working in more than 60 countries and regions, providing long-term assistance to conflict areas such as Ukraine, the Gaza Strip and Sudan.
