On April 11th, US Secretary of Commerce Lutnick announced on the 10th local time that the issuance of “gold cards” will begin within a week. US President Trump announced on April 3rd that he expects to issue a “gold card” visa in the coming weeks. On February 25th local time, Trump told the media at the White House that he plans to sell a $5 million American “gold card” to wealthy immigrants. According to him, this “gold card” will not directly give the buyer US citizenship, so it does not need to pass the US Congress, but will give the same rights as the “green card”, which is a “awesome way to obtain US citizenship”. Trump said that the federal government can sell 10 million “gold cards” to reduce the deficit.
