On April 8th, Bolivian President Arce stated on April 7th local time that the US President Trump administration’s policy of imposing tariffs on multiple countries may have “devastating” consequences for the global economic system, and even lead to a global economic recession. Arce stated that Bolivia opposes this tariff policy that lacks any technical basis. The United States’ attempt to maintain its economic dominance over emerging economies through tariff policies is purely a political decision. This measure directly violates the principle of international trade freedom and is highly likely to have a chain reaction on a global scale. It is a unilateral action that endangers the balance of the global economy.
