On April 7th, Democratic Senator Bernie Sanders stated in an interview with CBS on April 6th that the United States under Trump’s leadership is facing “unprecedented danger” and is rapidly moving towards oligarchy. He said that this means the US government is being managed by and serving the billionaire class. On April 2nd, US President Trump signed an executive order at the White House regarding the so-called “equivalent tariffs”, announcing that the United States would impose a “minimum benchmark tariff” of 10% on trading partners and impose higher tariffs on certain trading partners. The US government’s move has faced opposition and criticism from multiple parties worldwide. More than a thousand protests were held in multiple parts of the United States on the 5th, opposing policies related to the Trump administration and the government efficiency department led by Musk.
