On April 2nd, the Japanese Diet passed the 2025 fiscal year budget on March 31st, with both the total budget and defense budget reaching historic highs. The total budget for Japan’s fiscal year 2025 is 115.1978 trillion yen (approximately 149 yen per US dollar), setting a new record for the 2023 fiscal year budget of 114.38 trillion yen. The defense budget for the new fiscal year has increased to approximately 8.7 trillion yen, breaking last year’s record of 7.9496 trillion yen.
