On March 29th, Danish Prime Minister Fredrickson stated on March 28th local time that the remarks made by US Vice President Vance during his visit to Greenland regarding Denmark were not accurate. Frezeliksen said that Denmark is a “good and strong ally” of all NATO members, and Denmark has significantly increased its defense spending. Therefore, Vance’s statement is unfair. On the other hand, the security of the Arctic should be given higher attention. That’s why Denmark is strengthening its efforts, including more surveillance, new Arctic ships, long-range drones, and enhancing satellite capabilities. Frezeliksen said that if Denmark could receive the necessary supplies, including those from the United States, it could strengthen its security more quickly. Fraser Rixen said that Greenland is part of NATO, so NATO also needs to significantly increase its presence in the Arctic. Denmark is ready to cooperate with the United States at any time, and this cooperation must be based on necessary international rules.
