Among them, more than 480000 passengers from 112 countries and regions around the world take the international passenger train of China Laos Railway for cross-border travel.
After the opening and operation of the China Laos Railway, the passenger traffic volume has continued to grow, and the passenger traffic volume of the whole line in a single month has increased from 600000 person times in the initial period of opening to 1.6 million person times at present. The daily average number of passenger trains in the Chinese section has increased from 8 to a maximum of 86, with a total of 41.15 million passengers transported; The daily operation of passenger trains in the Laos section has increased from 4 trains in the initial opening period to a maximum of 16 trains, and the number of ordinary speed passenger trains has been expanded to more than 10, with a total of over 8.85 million passengers sent.

Entering 2025, the travel demand of passengers in China Laos railway is strong. From January 1st to March 28th, a total of 5.4 million passengers have been sent. Among them, there were 82000 cross-border passengers, with an average of over 1000 passengers per day.
It is reported that the railway departments of China and Laos actively cooperate with the tourism departments of the two countries to promote the integrated development of “railway+tourism”. Multiple tourism routes have been opened between Kunming and Vientiane, and the cross-border “Starlight Lancang Mekong” comfortable tourism train has been operated. The model of “domestic tourism special train+international passenger train” has been adopted, and multiple cross-border travel groups from China and Laos have been organized to Laos, which has ignited tourism related industries such as scenic spots, hotels, and catering along the line.
At the same time, the railway departments of China and Laos continue to optimize station and train services, equipping language translation equipment at stations and trains along the way, providing travel service information broadcasting services in Chinese, Laos, and English, as well as Dai language services; On the train, electronic arm blood pressure monitors are specially equipped to facilitate real-time measurement of blood pressure for passengers in need, allowing them to grasp their physical condition in advance and provide convenience for the journey, continuously improving the passenger experience.
