The seamless integration of robots and spinal cord prostheses for the first time can restore the mobility of paralyzed individuals

On March 24th, the NeuroRestore team in Switzerland developed an advanced system that seamlessly integrates implantable spinal nerve prostheses with rehabilitation robots. By emitting precise electrical pulses to stimulate muscles and coordinating with the robot’s movements, natural and effective muscle activity is generated during the treatment process. This technology utilizes the achievements of the Lausanne Federal Institute of Technology in the field of robotics, not only enhancing patients’ immediate mobility, but also promoting long-term rehabilitation effects. The research results were published in the latest issue of the journal Science Robotics.
