Iraqi Prime Minister and French President have a phone conversation to discuss the situation in the Middle East and bilateral relations

On March 16th, according to a statement from the Iraqi Prime Minister’s Media Office on March 15th local time, Iraqi Prime Minister Sudani had a phone call with French President Macron on the same day, and both sides discussed issues of common concern. Both parties agreed during the call to have a bilateral working group determine the date of Macron’s visit to Iraq. In addition, both sides have reached a consensus on the Syrian political transition process, believing that the process should reflect social diversity and emphasizing the importance of combating terrorism and extremism to promote an inclusive political transition process. Both sides emphasized the need to maintain stability in Lebanon, promote the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, ensure compliance with the ceasefire agreement, and prevent the escalation of conflicts caused by violations of the ceasefire agreement.
