Iwate Prefecture wildfire in Japan continues for over a week, with dry weather increasing the difficulty of extinguishing it

On March 7th, the forest fire in Ofunato City, Iwate Prefecture, Japan has been ongoing for over a week. Although the rainfall on the 5th has eased the situation, the disaster has not been fully controlled. The ongoing wildfires have had a serious impact on local transportation, with multiple roads closed and railway transport interrupted. The meteorological agency predicts that from the 7th onwards, the city of Ofunato and coastal areas will have mostly sunny or cloudy weather for the next week, with the weather remaining dry, and firefighting work still facing challenges.
