On the evening of March 5th local time, Hazem Kassem, spokesperson for the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), stated in a media interview that he does not currently comment on the news of “direct talks” between the United States and Hamas. However, Hamas “maintains an open attitude” towards international contacts other than Israel. Kazem also stated that Hamas is ready to accept “any arrangement” for the Gaza Strip, but this arrangement must go through the “consensus of the Palestinians”.
