On March 5th, Lebanese President Aoun met with the United Nations delegation in Cairo on March 4th local time. Aoun and UN Secretary General Guterres discussed the latest situation between Lebanon and Israel, as well as the work of the United Nations in Lebanon. Aoun thanks the United Nations for its support to Lebanon, especially the important mission of the UN Force in southern Lebanon despite facing difficulties. Aoun stated that the continued presence of Israeli troops in Lebanon will hinder the implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701. Guterres stated that the territorial integrity of Lebanon must be respected, and no foreign troops should remain in Lebanese territory except for the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon.
