On March 1, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zaharova pointed out on March 1 local time that the root causes of the Russia-Ukraine conflict were three: the West violated NATO’s commitment not to expand eastward, NATO annexed the entire European geopolitical space and pushed it to the Russian border, and Ukraine deliberately eliminated Russian language, culture and beliefs. Zhaharova commented that “Zelensky’s visit to the United States was a complete failure in politics and diplomacy”. Only by thoroughly eliminating the root causes of the Russia-Ukraine conflict can a just and lasting peace be achieved. Zakharova also stated that Russia’s goals have not changed, still being the demilitarization and “de Nazification” of Ukraine, as well as acknowledging the reality on the ground. The sooner Ukraine and several European countries realize this, the closer the Russia-Ukraine conflict will be to a peaceful settlement. On February 28th local time, US President Trump held talks with visiting Ukrainian President Zelensky at the White House. During the meeting, there was a heated argument between the two sides in front of the media, and Zelensky left the White House early. The originally planned joint press conference has been cancelled, and the US Ukraine mineral agreement has not been signed. (CCTV News)
