CICC: Weekly inflow of southbound funds reaches a new high since January 2021

On March 1st, CICC Strategy pointed out that in terms of interconnectivity, the daily average transaction volume of northbound funds increased compared to last week, while southbound funds accelerated their inflow, with weekly inflow reaching a new high since January 2021. This week, southbound capital inflows amounted to HKD 74.97 billion, with an average daily inflow of HKD 14.99 billion, a significant increase from the previous week’s average inflow of HKD 10.242 billion. At the individual stock level, there has been a significant influx of southbound funds into Alibaba and China Mobile this week, but at the same time, there has been an outflow of funds from Meituan and China National Offshore Oil Corporation. At the industry level, this week, Southbound increased its holdings in consumer and mainland banks the most, while reducing its holdings in energy and raw materials.
