On February 26th, Abdul Latif Kanuwa, spokesperson for the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), stated that Hamas’ contacts with mediators such as Egypt and Qatar regarding the implementation of the Gaza ceasefire agreement are still ongoing. Due to Israel’s failure to release the eighth batch of Palestinian detainees as agreed, the implementation of the first phase of the ceasefire agreement has been hindered. Hamas emphasizes that any new proposal can be discussed, but it must ensure that Israel fulfills all agreed terms. Kanova stated that whether entering the second phase of the agreement, extending the first phase, or merging different phases, all negotiations must comply with the demands previously put forward by Hamas and Palestinian armed groups. This includes: ceasing military operations in the Gaza Strip, completely withdrawing military supplies from the Gaza Strip, and implementing specific arrangements for Gaza’s reconstruction and humanitarian assistance. These conditions are Hamas’ red line and cannot be compromised.
