Recently, some statements such as “Mobile phone base stations emit radiation, and 5G base stations emit more radiation than 4G, so 5G radiation will be greater than 4G and pose greater harm to human health!” have attracted public attention. Do these statements have scientific basis? Experts say that the frequency range of radio waves used for 5G signals can be roughly divided into two types: one belongs to centimeter waves, which is not too different from our current 2G/3G/4G. There is another type, relatively high, belonging to the category of millimeter waves, but it has not yet been deployed in China. But whether it’s the 2G/3G/4G used before or the millimeter wave level 5G, their frequencies are smaller than visible light.
