1337 seconds! Record breaking plasma operation time for French nuclear fusion device

On February 24th, the French Atomic Energy and Alternative Energy Commission (CEA) announced on its official website that on February 12th, the tokamak fusion device operated by it, the Steady State Tokamak Device in Tungsten Environment (WEST), maintained a hydrogen plasma state for 1337 seconds (22 minutes and 17 seconds). This time has broken the previous record of 1066 seconds set by China’s All Superconducting Tokamak Nuclear Fusion Experiment (EAST) in the past few weeks.
